Jason Ducos, LCSW-R, CASAC-Master
Clinical Director and Founder
Specialty: Clinical Social Work and Substance Abuse Counseling
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in crisis intervention and substance abuse counseling. I work with adults and couples who are seeking relief from trauma, grief, anxiety and depression, relationships issues, and life adjustment. I believe recovery and healing is not a one size fits all. Every individual and couple has a unique set of internal and external strengths. I use a holistic and creative, solutions focused based approach that is influenced by trauma therapy, attachment theory, psychodrama and theory of intersectionality. I believe that no matter what point you are in life that there is room to heal, room to grow, and room to thrive as your most authentic self.
I tell anyone I meet who is seeking out counseling, it’s crucial to find a therapist who is the right fit and makes us feel safe and comfortable. If you are interested in working with me, I approach psychotherapy as an alliance. We are partners in your journey of self discovery, reframing obstacles into lessons that help you live the most authentic life you can. It takes courage to admit that life’s burdens are sometimes too hard to bear alone. Opening up in therapy is an act of courage, strength and self love.

Are you feeling stressed, anxious, or alone? Are you sometimes overwhelmed by feelings that are hard to understand or even express in words? Art therapy in a safe, supportive space can offer you a solution. Art therapy is a well-established alternative to the more traditional process of “talk” therapy. It helps us access, examine and manage thoughts and feelings that are hard or uncomfortable to discuss, at least at first. A sensitive art therapist can help you interpret your visual expressions and gain insight into patterns and issues. You don’t need to be Picasso to benefit from art therapy; you just need to be ready to work through challenges that have been holding you back.
My holistic approach to art therapy combines talk, nonjudgmental art activities, and effective techniques from other modalities such as mindfulness and DBT. We figure out what works best together, as a partnership. I developed this approach while earning my Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy (with honors) from Pratt Institute, where I worked with a rich array of adolescents and adults from very different backgrounds and circumstances. They told me that I come across as patient, empathetic, humorous, and insightful. I will never forget one client who told me “you changed a young man’s life.” The experience of art therapy has changed mine, too, and I would value the opportunity to share it with you in whatever form proves most effective to make the most of your life.

Mary Welch, CAT-LP

Specialty: Creative Arts Therapy
I am a limited permit art therapist with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Visual Art Therapy from Lesley University. In the past, I have had the privilege of working with and learning from clients of many different ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses and I have been honored to be able to learn how to hold space for deep grief as well as joy in my practice and to be able to earn enough trust in my clients to develop connections that were meaningful, healing, and healthy. It is my firm belief that because no one is ever a burden for their needs and that includes, in my opinion, emotional support and belongingness in community. Beyond the beauty of seeing people be happy, this is one of the deepest values that drives my work.
In terms of clinical style, I tend to work with clients from a systemic feminist and trauma-informed point of view and much of my work focuses on mind-body connection, exploration of relational attachment patterns, and the role of the community and community context on the development of one’s perspective. My work focuses primarily on healing the self-relationship and I often utilize internal family systems and trauma-informed mindfulness-based work as well. I try to always focus on identity affirming practices, as it is my belief that we are each complex individuals who deserve to be honored while healing from and adjusting to experiences in a world that has not always been accommodating to all people, despite all people being worthy of respect and joy.
In our sessions together, this would mean exploring how you have learned to move about the world and how you can show up more often with curiosity and start to more regularly access feelings of safety, security, and love. This usually looks like a combination of traditional talk therapy and arts activities designed to help you expand perspectives on yourself and others and to embrace a more balanced way of viewing the world. My hope with each client is to ultimately help them engage more deeply and lovingly with their authentic self and to help them to find safety and trust in themselves in order to pave the way to live a life that they feel is genuinely worth living. In tandem, I seek to help clients develop ways to engage in community outside of themselves that feel uplifting and meaningful to them. It is my hope to assist folks in learning to access feelings of deep empowerment, empathy, and comfort as well as the knowledge necessary to maintain healthy relationships with others, based on mutual respect and love.
